China Spirit UK is a not-for-profit social enterprise founded in 2012, built on the foundation of Spirit of Chinese Kung Fu, which has served the Wirral and Merseyside since 2006. Our organisation delivers a range of activities to improve health and well-being for all age groups, from children to adults.
Activities include Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Kung Fu and Wushu, San Shou (Chinese Kick Boxing), Yoga, Mandarin Language, Traditional Chinese Lion Dance, Chinese Calligraphy.
The organisation's activities focus on Eastern techniques and methods and aim to offer a unique alternative to more traditional, common activities people use to maintain their health and fitness.
Our methods embrace health in its widest sense and focus on improving the mind as well as the body; this approach provides longer-lasting benefits and more sustainable well-being.
In addition to promoting health and well-being, our wider goal is to educate people about Chinese culture so they can better understand this community. By improving people's knowledge of Chinese people, we hope to build better relationships between British and Chinese communities.
Our teaching focuses on the ethos of the ancient arts - self-discipline, a healthy lifestyle and restraint: qualities that are fundamental to the development of good young citizens, rather than the drug-taking, vandalising alternative sub-culture.
Our head instructor is Master Xingbo Liu.
Master Xingbo Liu is a 6th Duan Chinese martial arts master who trained at the Shaolin Temple in China. He has 30 years of experience, sharing his knowledge with people from different cultures, from infants to older adults.
His daughter, Huicong Liu, is an instructor with a Level 3 qualification in Sport Science.
She is a British and European champion in Chinese Martial Arts and Tai Chi and a member of the Great Britain Wushu Team
She is teaching Martial Arts and Mandarin Language for children and adults for over 10 years. .
Dominik Liu, Master Xingbo's son, is also a member of the Great Britain Wushu Team.
He is a multiple-time British Champion, a two-time European Champion, and placed 7th in Indonesia at the 8th World Junior Wushu Championship in 2022.
Dominik won a bronze medal at the 9th World Kung Fu Championship in China in August 2023.
